Columbia Street Roastery Blends

Virtually all of our blends are available in decaf. We also offer many 50/50 blends that have half the caffeine.

Black Market

Despite the name, this blend is completely above board. Its a delightful and hearty blend of our popular Black Velvet and our Indonesian gem, Market & Bradley. It is a dark roast blend with great body and a nuance of sweetness.

Black Silk
(Organic)

Oh what a beautiful mornin’! You’ll love this dark and rich combination of two blends early in the morning well into the evening. It is bright and slightly acidic, yet is still possesses a dark bass line that will keep your toes tapping.

Black Velvet

Dark lovers unite! Honestly, we can’t make this blend fast enough. It is dark and hearty, but soft with fruit notes. We’ve circumvented the “burnt” taste that predominates in darker French and Italian roasts.

Church Street Blend

A blend of medium and dark roasts with just enough of the smoky “charcoal” nuance of the French roast.

Columbia Street Blend

The flavor of this blend moves from the front to the back of mouth as it cools. Coffees from each of the major coffee growing regions in the world are used in this blend, which gives it a complex and unparalleled flavor profile. This is a medium roasted blend.

Crane Alley
(Organic)

There is a richness from the dark roast of three distinct coffees. This blend embodies, as well as intertwines itself with the winey berry notes of coffees from East Africa and the body and additional sweetness of selected Central Americans. A coffee great for drinking all day.

European Blend

This is a blend of African, Central and South American coffees. This is predominately a medium roast blend, however the right amount of dark roast has been added to give a nuance of European coffee. Rich in flavor, good body and medium acidity characterize this blend.

French Roast
(Organic)

Our French Roast is a blend of organic coffees. Because of this select blend, this French Roast has intensity in both aroma and flavor. We have chosen to use varietals that can stand the heat of a dark roast without roasting away all of their individual characteristics.

Goose Alley Blend

This blend combines the bright rich winey and floral notes of its distinctive East African coffees with the pleasing syrupy fullness of Indonesian coffees to form a well rounded and balanced blend. Full of body, this has become one of our most popular blends. Try it … we know you’ll be back for more.

Hickory Street
(Organic)

For those who like a little more acidity to their coffee, this blend is a magnificent morning and early afternoon coffee. It is a moderately dark roasted blend which is bright, brisk and acidic and is full of richness and body. The manager of the Roastery, who is not necessarily a dark roast lover, finds himself migrating to this blend more often than not when it is his turn to make coffee for the roastery team in the morning or when fixing a cup of coffee using his French press.

Java Coastal

This blend is heavily oriented toward the sparkling sharpness and the rich sweetness of the winey and fruity African coffees. The blend becomes even more well-rounded and full-bodied when complemented with the right amount of just a hint of the smoky nuance of a dark roast. Those describing this coffee could be like an old ad on television: Rich and full-bodied … back and forth it could go. We would like to know what you think.

Jean-Pierre Blend

J.P. was a classic French chef who developed this blend for his local restaurant in Champaign. The distinctive characteristics of a true French Roast is paramount. This flavor is accentuated by a unique blend of coffees, which provide a very mellow, yet winey overtones. The body, or mouth feel, of this blend is full and all encompassing.

Market & Bradley

This full-bodied blend is emphasizes body over sharpness. It is comprised mostly of Indonesian coffees. The manner in which these coffees are processed creates the blend’s discriminating flavor profile. Some are the coffees are processed through dry natural “unwashed” manner creating tastes which are earthy and full-bodied. Others use a washed process creating more acidity and clarity in the cup. The roast profile creates caramelized and chocolate undertones to the blend. The name of the blend identifies the street corner of where the Herriott family started in business in 1951, as well as, incorporates the names of our first two roasters, Bradley and Mark.

Mocha/Moka Java Blend
(Organic)

This is the first known blend of coffee. It combines the full-bodied and earthy flavors of Indonesia with the sweet floral tastes of an Ethiopian or Yemeni coffee. The term “Mocha” refers to beans from Ethiopia such as Moka Harrar or those that were shipped from the port of Mocha (Al Makha) on the southwest tip of Yemen.

Mocha/Moka Java Bold
(Organic)

This blend was created by “Papa” Faraci, another local restaurateur and mentor. It has a hint of the smoky bittersweet flavor of a French Roast added to a classic Mocha Java blend to create a very full bodied yet mellow cup of coffee.

Nick’s Blend
(Organic)

If you love the sweet, bright and sometimes nutty flavors of Central American coffees, this is the blend for you.

Out Of Africa

Africans unite in this blend that people just adore. Fruit and berry notes mingle with the winey flavors of Kenya.
