David B. Wilcoxen

President

David B. Wilcoxen is a three-time graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1989, he was a Bronze Tablet graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in physical geography. In 1992, he obtained a Masters of Urban Planning with a focus on environmental planning and policy. After obtaining his MUP, he worked as a Fellow with the U.S. Army Environmental Policy Institute until 1995. In 1997, he enrolled in the University of Illinois College of Law and received a Juris Doctor degree in May, 2000. Mr. Wilcoxen is currently the Associate Director for Environmental Compliance at the University of Illinois. In addition to the Public Art League, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Land Conservation Foundation, the Champaign County Audobon Society and the Illinois Green Business Association. He is also a local artist who has served on the 40 North Gala Planning Committee and has lived in the community since 1987.


 

 

Lawrence Hamlin

Vice President
Charter Board Member


Lawrence Hamlin is currently an instructor in the foundations program in the college of fine and applied arts, teaching drawing, drafting and design to architecture, art and landscape architecture students at the university of Illinois. He is a master printmaker and sole proprietor of Mad Dog Press, and a former master printmaker at Crown Point Press in San Francisco, CA. Lawrence has always been active in the arts community and is a proud supporter of the Public Art League.


 

 

Eric Robeson

Treasurer
Charter Board Member


Eric currently works in project management and marketing for Robeson's Inc. and Robeson Properties, LLC. He received a Master of Arts degree in advertising at the University of Texas -Austin and a Bachelor of Science degree at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. In addition to work with the Public Art League, Eric is an active volunteer with the Champaign West Rotary Club and served as the club's president, on its board, and chaired numerous committees. Work with the club led him to chair the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and perform international service work in Honduras. Additionally, he has worked with a number of open-space and natural causes including serving as president of the Champaign County Forest Preserve Foundation, as treasurer and charter board member of the Land Conservation Foundation and as one of the original organizers of the annual Boneyard Creek Community Day. He has additionally done volunteer work with 40 North/88 West, the University of Illinois, the Champaign County Humane Society, and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.


 

 

James Barham

Charter Board Member


James is the owner of Barham Benefit Group, est. 1997, and created indi co artist co op in 2009. James was born in Champaign but has lived in California and Hawaii. Upon his return from Hawaii 1992, he decided to become more involved in his community and has been on the board of the IETC, Crisis Nursery, The Reading Group,Ambucs, Girls Scouts Green Meadow Council and the Champaign Public Library Foundation. He is currently serving on The Tony Noel Memorial Golf committee, the Public Art League and the Swann Special Care Development Board. He also was an elected member of the Champaign Park Board and during his 6 year term he served on the board of the CU Special Recreation, the Illinois Park & Recreation Association and the National Recreation & Park Association legislative committees.


 

 

Robin Hall

Board Member


Robin Hall is the Director of the Office of Recreation and Park Resources at the University of Illinois. Prior to this, he was the Director of the Urbana Park District. One of his favorite projects while at the Park District was developing the Wandell Sculpture Garden in Meadowbrook Park. Hall currently serves as the Chair of the Urbana Arts Commission. He has served on several Boards including the Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Champaign County Arts, Culture and Entertainment Council. He was part of the group that formed the latter. Hall co-chaired the 2003 Boneyard Festival. Robin has a passion for the arts, parks and land preservation.


 

 

Roopali Malhotra

Board Member


Roopali Malhotra joined PAL in 2011 and primarily focuses on soliciting funding for the organization through private and public grants. Raised in Danville, Illinois, she pursued her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Pennsylvania State University and University of Pennsylvania before returning to the University of Illinois to attend the College of Law. She currently serves as an attorney for the Office of University Counsel, and has previously assisted with matters for the T.F. Arts for Humanity Foundation in New York City, as well as the Chicago South Asian Arts Council.


 

 

Alan Mette    

Board Member


Alan Mette has been a member of the Champaign-Urbana community since 1981. He is a Professor and Executive Associate Director for the School of Art + Design at the University of Illinois. He received a Master of Fine Arts from Michigan State University, Master of Arts from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. He has served on numerous university, college, and school committees and has exhibited widely in regional, national and international exhibitions. Alan is the recipient of the Arts Achievement Award for Distinguished Alumni from Wayne State University and the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from the University of Illinois.
