Procedure

recreating the art

1. download starter file
2. open "alphabet.ai" in Illustrator
3. practice Illustrator's navigation shortcuts (download Illustrator keyboard shortcuts)
4. view > grids
5. illustrator > preferences > guides & grids: gridline=12pts, subdiv=2
6. study the components that make up the alphabet
7. using existing elements, create the missing letters
8. design missing numerals to complete the font

finishing the exercise

1. design your own alphabet
2. submit b&w laser proofs with your name and exercise number on it for grading
3. file graded proof in your 3-ring binder for individual review
