The Global Lens film series was launched in 2003 to support the distribution of unique and critically acclaimed cinematic works from around the world. Since its founding, the series has provided a platform for exceptional storytelling and opened a window in the diverse world in which we live. Now in its eighth year, Global Lens continues to attract dynamic audiences and discover extraordinary new films, building upon the unique perspectives that have come to define the Global Film Initiative’s library of films.

Now in its third year at the Y, Global Lens attracts dynamic audiences who want to discover extraordinary new films. The series builds upon the unique perspectives that have come to define the Global Film Initiative’s library of films. This Summer, the University Y and Center for Global Studies have partnered with the Art Theater in downtown Champaign to screen films for free. On 2nd Thursdays at 5:30pm, the Art Theater will show the monthly film. A week later, the Y will continue to screen the films as before. 2011 Film Schedule

Summer films will be shown on 2nd Thursdays at the C-U Art Theater and 3rd Thursdays at the University YMCA. All showings begin at 5:30pm and are free. Most films are appropriate for 18+ years of age.
