Each year, the YMCA hands out a variety of awards and several scholarships.The University YMCA seeks to recognize those individuals whose involvement has positively impacted the University YMCA and the Champaign-Urbana community. Each year, recipients are chosen and honored for their commitment to the organization and mission of the University YMCA. These individuals are honored at the Annual Awards Luncheon in the spring and recognized on plaques found in Latzer Hall.

The awards given out by the University YMCA each year are:

• John W. Price Award for Volunteer Service to International Understanding
• Harold W. Colvin Award for Leadership by an Undergraduate at the University of Illinois
• J. Fredrick Miller Award Nomination for Distinguished Volunteer Service
• The Edward Nestingen Alumni Award
• The Distinguished Service Award
• Outstanding YMCA Student Program of the Year
• Annual Fund Drive Alumni Award

Additionally, over $100,000 in Bailey Scholarships are awarded each year to students who demonstrate a record of leadership, scholarship and intelligence, evidence of thoughtful consideration of issues, involvement in their community, a commitment to giving back to their community, a history of community service and volunteering. Since 1957, the Bailey Scholarship has been administered by the YMCA of the University of Illinois.

2010-2011 Award Recipients

The John W. Price Award for Volunteer Service to International Understanding is presented each year at the annual International Dinner. The 27th Annual International dinner took place on March 13, 2011. The remaining awards were presented at the Annual Luncheon on April 9, 2011, pictured in the slideshow above.
