WHEN BIOLOGISTS TRAVEL THE WORLD
MAY 26 - AUGUST 17, 2011

To study biology is to study the world. It is necessary to put everything into context if we are to understand what’s happening in our own backyards. Even though Michael Jeffords and Susan Post have spent their entire careers focused on Illinois’ biology, and studied everything from soybeans to exotic, invasive species, their hobby, their avocation, their passion is nature. In short, they are biologists who photograph. The selection of images in this exhibit represents their travels outside of Illinois and the photographic opportunities that presented themselves as they traversed these unique, exotic landscapes.

About Art @ the Y

Some of the most profound insight, critique, and creative thinking around the issues which comprise the mission of the Y happen in and around the arts. Art @ the Y seeks to engage issues of social justice, international understanding, environmental activism, faith and cultural understanding through quality arts programming. Art @ the Y includes a revolving exhibition space in Murphy Lounge, featuring artists whose work speaks to the mission of the Y, the international art film series, Global Lens, as well as performing arts events throughout the year.
