People have turned the pages of books for hundreds of years to find what they need to know, but have navigated through websites and other digital interfaces for only two short decades (if that). The web has introduced a fundamentally new way of looking for and consuming stuff and I find that absolutely fascinating. How do we as designers present users with the best possible experience — and create interfaces that are both beautiful and a pleasure to use?

This is the question I strive to answer every day. As Lead Designer at Pixo, an Urbana-based web development and engineering company, I develop the information architecture and design of web sites for a variety of clients. It's a job that requires serious problem-solving and the ability to research, throw away ideas and start from scratch, and put myself in the shoes of the people who will ultimately use what I design. I absolutely love it.

By night, I'm also Co-Founder and Co-President of the Champaign-Urbana Design Organization (CUDO).
